Twinning Arrangement

Internship
The internship program, which lasts for four months, allows student to apply what he/she learns in the classroom to real-life work situations. At the same time, employer has the opportunity to evaluate the quality of the student and provides feedback to further improve the course content. Student submits a logbook of his/her work experience and employer's evaluation after the attachment.

When I was still in China, I gained the admission to one of the polytechnics in Singapore. I chose Portman even though it is a private school. This is because government schools provided limited courses to China students, while other private institutions offered only commercial and computer courses. However, Portman has a wide range of courses.
Initially, I felt very stressed for being the first China student to study Built Environment in Portman. On the other hand, as I was the only 'foreigner' in the class, the lecturers and classmates gave me exceptional attention and encouraged me to persevere to the end.
In the three-year time I studied in Portman, I experienced both hardship and pride. Finally, I finished my degree course with flying colours. Not only that, I am now accepted by The University of Sydney (Australia) to study the Master Degree. This is the meritorious deed of Portman!

Hi! I am from Cambodia and I have joined Portman for more than 2 years. I am also like other foreign students who are always homesick; luckily Portman has organized many activities for students such as BBQ, trip to visit factories places of Interest and so on. By organizing these activities, students can benefit using their knowledge to apply to how they face and solve problems in real world. Portman has provided such helpful services that cannot be found from other private centres. Actually Portman is not the best among all but we can say that it is an above average private education centre in Singapore.
I was a bit out of touch socially in school in my first year in Portman, but now things have changed since I have picked up some of mandarin, and I can communicate better with other students especially with Chinese students. They are helpful with what they can afford to. My study at Portman is like killing two birds with one stone. Why do I say so? because I can get my degree and pick up some mandarin at the same time, which is one of the most common spoken languages among business people in the world.

Student Achievements
Golden Key International Honour Society is an international, non-profit organisation with more than 300 chapters at universities in Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and the United States. Leaders in higher education, business and public service are members of Golden Key and support the Society.
The Society was founded at Georgia State University on 29 November 1977, by a group of highly motivated undergraduate students. Since that time. Golden Key has established itself as a positive force in higher education. In 1993, the Society established chapters for the first time outside of the United States by partnering with universities in Australia. More than 1,000,000 lifetime members and 12,000 honorary members are proud of their association with this dynamic international organisation.
A board of directors, a council and delegates to the annual convention governs golden Key. A trained, professional staff is dedicated to the Society's chapters and to its individual members throughout the year. Golden Key has a permanent headquarters to keep members and alumni in touch, no matter where they may be.
